Tutor Code of Conduct
Last updated: June 8, 2026 · Every Studyfin tutor agrees to these standards when they apply.
Studyfin tutors work with children and families. Trust is everything. By applying to tutor on Studyfin you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct at all times. Serious or repeated violations can result in removal from the platform and, where required, reporting to the appropriate authorities.
1. Child safety comes first
- Parent present (under 13): for any student under 13, a parent or guardian must be present and signed into the session. You will never proceed with an under-13 session if no parent is present.
- Stay on-platform: all sessions and communication happen inside Studyfin. You will not share personal contact details, move sessions to another app, or arrange to meet a student or family privately or in person outside the platform.
- Appropriate conduct: never engage in any behavior that is abusive, sexual, threatening, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful toward a child or family.
- Mandatory reporting: if you have reason to believe a child is at risk of harm, you will report it to Studyfin and, where required by law, to the appropriate authorities.
2. Professionalism
- Be punctual, prepared, and present for booked sessions. Give as much notice as possible if you must cancel or reschedule.
- Maintain a respectful, encouraging, and patient manner. Studyfin is mastery-based — meet students where they are.
- Present yourself and your environment appropriately on camera.
- Keep your profile, qualifications, and availability accurate and up to date.
3. Honesty & academic integrity
- Represent your credentials, experience, and identity truthfully. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal.
- Maintain valid, current teaching credentials. An expired license suspends your "Verified" status until renewed.
- Teach and guide students to learn — do not complete graded work, tests, or assignments on a student's behalf.
4. Privacy & confidentiality
- Treat all student and family information as confidential. Use it only to deliver tutoring, and never share, sell, or disclose it.
- Do not record, screenshot, or redistribute sessions or student work without explicit consent.
- Handle personal data in line with Studyfin's Privacy Policy and applicable law.
5. Fair dealing & payments
- All payments flow through Studyfin. Do not solicit or accept off-platform payment, tips, or "cash deals."
- Do not solicit Studyfin students or families to leave the platform.
- Reviews and ratings must reflect genuine sessions; do not manipulate them.
6. Enforcement & how violations are handled
Studyfin may investigate suspected violations, suspend or remove tutors, withhold payouts for fraud, and cooperate with law enforcement. We keep a record of policy violations for compliance.
Three-strike policy (tutors & parents)
- Each recorded violation is logged, and the affected person is notified by email.
- The first two violations are warnings that point you back to this Code.
- On the third violation, the account is automatically suspended — sign-in is disabled, tutors are removed from the directory and can't be booked — and a suspension email is sent. Serious violations may result in immediate suspension without prior warnings.
- If you believe a decision was a mistake, you may appeal by replying to the email or contacting support.
Children are treated differently
- Students are never locked out by strikes. If a concern is recorded on a child's account, we notify the parent or guardian and, after repeated concerns, flag the account for the parent's review — the parent decides what to do. Children are not suspended automatically.
- If a parent/guardian account is suspended, their linked children's access is paused too, and restored when the parent's account is reinstated.
This Code works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; where they overlap, all apply.
